An ode to Andy Warhol

Visual interaction with Andy Warhol

Art book, 2 copies. An account of a school year spent learning sculpture at evening school at Lier Art Academy. Inspired by the life of  Andy Warhol – the leitmotiv of the entire year Paula C. spent studying  – Bruno Devos created his own interpretation for this publication for the artist-student in which Paula C. & Andy W. flow visually into each other and the student lets herself go in the imaginary world of the star artist.

About the artist

Andy Warhol (1928–1987, USA) is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. Fame was an artform in itself for him. Warhol, who started as a commercial illustrator, took the artworld by storm with intentionally commonplace and banal images, who were quickly identified as Pop Art. Warhol is the opposite of the abstract expressionists who dominated the fifties. He experiments with serial production and renamed his atelier ‘The Factory’. His art illustrates the post-war consumerism. In his own words: “If you want to know all about Andy Warhol, just look at the surface of my paintings and films and me, and there I am. There’s nothing behind it.”
