Cultural diplomacy in Diplomatic World

Cultural diplomacy in Diplomatic World

Diplomatic World was given a complete restyling in number 52. Since then Stockmans, under the guidance of Bruno Devos, is responsible for the art direction, lay-out and design, editing, editorial coordination and the printing. In addition, Bruno Devos takes care of an entire art section that is located in the middle of the magazine. This section is printed on special papers to support the exceptional character of this section and to enhance the quality of the images of art works.

The integration of art in a diplomatic magazine is a daring move but one with a clear motivation: cultural diplomacy.

“Cultural Diplomacy may best be described as a course of actions, which are based on and utilize the exchange of ideas, values, traditions and other aspects of culture or identity, whether to strengthen relationships, enhance socio-cultural cooperation, promote national interests and beyond; Cultural diplomacy can be practiced by either the public sector, private sector or civil society.”

The importance of cultural diplomacy is unquestionable and it is starting to receive more and more international recognition. Therefore, an art section is vital to a diplomatic magazine.
