Harry Gruyaert (Antwerp, °1941) is one of Belgium’s most famous photographers. With this retrospective, FOMU gives a rich and surprising overview of his oeuvre. Harry is one of the pioneers of colour photography and has been an important member of the renowned photo agency Magnum since 1982. Stockmans has once before put his works to paper with the publishing of the catalogue It’s not about cars in 2017, in collaboration with Gallery FIFTY ONE.
Central to this exhibition are his most iconic images. Each photo reveals its own unique universe, built with an uncanny sense for colour, light and composition. Harry travels the world, driven by a ceaseless search for beauty in the ordinary.
